We're looking for a highly skilled Director of Food Safety & QA who will ensure our food meets the highest standards of quality and safety. This role will be responsible for defining strategic FSQA standards, leading implementation across all manufacturing locations, and developing effective organizational plans for seamless execution.

About the Role

This position will engage and support key partnerships, internal and external, including culinary specialists, kitchen operations, supply chain, sanitation, tech, people, and consumer experience teams. You will oversee internal food safety audit programs, health department inspection outcomes, and develop kitchen food safety KPIs and risk mitigation strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Ensure operations in every facility meet or exceed local, regional, and federal regulations and company internal FS program.
  • Internal audits and inspections: Oversee internal food safety audit program and health department inspection outcomes to ensure business continuity and provide coaching and feedback to operations teams.
  • Data-driven decision making: Develop and oversee kitchen food safety KPIs and risk mitigation strategies by capturing, managing, utilizing, and presenting data to drive improvements in processes, procedures, and execution.
  • Pest control program: Design and implement a strategic and effective pest control program consistent with industry best practices, aggregating, tracking, and monitoring pest-related data to provide insights to the business.
  • Employee training: Ensure all employees receive correct FS training to avoid contamination risks during work and complete FS requirements to work in a food production facility.
  • Supplier approval: Coordinate suppliers' approval to guarantee achievement of Food Safety & QA regulations and standards for ingredients and supplies.
  • Risk management: Ensure potential Food Safety risks are under control and take instant decisions against any deviations, working with FS leaders and business stakeholders.
  • Complaint resolution: Respond to any Food Safety & Quality complaints and follow up with corresponding FS leaders until deviation is eliminated to avoid recurrence.
  • Crisis management: Develop and execute crisis management plan, escalation protocols, and regulatory correspondence for potential foodborne outbreaks, coordinating with designated team for product recall and/or market withdrawal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree: Bachelor's degree in food science or technology or related discipline.
  • FSMA knowledge: Experience with and/or proficiency in FSMA (GMP and HACCP) and how they apply to food processing, HACCP certified, PCQI certified, hands-on in writing and execution of SOPs, SSOPs, cGMPs and related food safety standards.
  • Communication skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Problem-solving skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions based on data, and develop and implement an action plan based on conclusions.
  • Leadership skills: Proven ability to influence others, be credible & act with integrity, demonstrate objective thinking, healthy skepticism, and ability to challenge conventional methods.
  • Language skills: Proficiency in English, both in verbal and written communication, bilingual proficiency in Spanish is a huge plus.
  • Travel: Able to travel domestic and/or internationally up to 50% of the time.

Salary: The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000—$130,000 USD per year, depending on candidates' experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
