PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following points outline the essential functions and duties expected from individuals in this role. This list is not exhaustive and may evolve based on the needs of the position.
- Conducts routine maintenance and operational tasks.
- Operates, services, and maintains various small tools and equipment.
- Performs cleaning, edging, and mowing of landscaped areas.
- Prunes trees and shrubs while maintaining overall landscape aesthetics.
- Monitors and oversees designated areas, facilities, and equipment; collects litter and debris; prepares sites and equipment for necessary maintenance or cleaning.
- Supports the department's success by undertaking additional essential tasks as required.
- Fosters a work environment that promotes understanding, respect, and skill development across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Subject to emergency recall: The City retains the right to require employees in this role to work overtime during emergencies, which may include natural or man-made disasters necessitating the relocation of personnel or citizens. In such cases, the incumbent may be required to remain on duty to provide essential services or perform duties outside their normal responsibilities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: To excel in this position, individuals must effectively perform each essential duty and responsibility. The following qualifications are indicative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:
- Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.
- Understanding of equipment, tools, and materials relevant to the assigned area.
- Knowledge of specialized equipment pertinent to the role.
- Proficiency in operating utility vehicles.
- Commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING: The preferred qualifications for this position include:
- A High School Diploma or GED along with one (1) year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully fulfill the essential duties outlined above.
- A valid Texas Driver's License.

Positions in this classification typically require various physical activities, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and repetitive motions.
Heavy Work: This role may involve exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may encounter moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, extreme temperatures, workspace restrictions, loud noises, and travel.
