Patient Care Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a Patient Care Assistant to provide continuous observation and individual care for a group of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse at Akron Children's Hospital.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide continuous, one-on-one observation and monitoring of assigned patients to ensure their safety and well-being.
2. Implement evidence-based de-escalation interventions to address patient needs.
3. Maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and others by being alert and attentive at all times.
4. Provide direct patient care, including vital signs and transporting patients to other departments as delegated by and under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
5. Stock linens and supplies as needed.
6. Document observations, interventions, and any pertinent information accurately and in a timely manner within EPIC.
7. Prioritize and execute tasks for assigned patients in a timely and efficient manner.
8. Alert nursing staff promptly to any signs of distress, discomfort, or changes in the patient's condition.
9. Maintain a calm and professional presence for patients and their family members.
10. Follow all hospital or facility protocols and procedures related to patient observation and safety.
Requirements
1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
2. Basic Life Support (BLS) training from the American Heart Association is required.
3. Minimum one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.
4. Experience working with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required.
5. Experience working in an electronic medical record (i.e. EPIC) or similar software is preferred.
