Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Explorer/School Age Teacher to join our team at Primrose School of West Plano. As an Explorer/School Age Teacher, you will play a vital role in planning and implementing an ongoing program of activities that promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child enrolled in our before and after school program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and manage a group of children, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Implement approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedules in accordance with the Primrose Balanced Learning curriculum and programming.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive classroom environment that encourages children to create, explore, and make decisions with confidence.
  • Provide verbal recognition and acceptance to children while setting clear and consistent expectations for their behavior.
  • Assist with maintenance and housekeeping duties of the classroom, common areas, and playgrounds.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, workshops, and school functions.
  • Adhere to professional personal appearance guidelines as outlined in the Primrose School of West Plano Employee Handbook.
Requirements
  • Meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agencies.
  • Previous teaching or assistant teaching experience in a licensed early childhood program is preferred.
  • Knowledge of the social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with handling children for program facilitation, child safety, and potential emergency situations.
  • Two-year degree in early childhood or a related field is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable in elementary-aged curriculum with an emphasis on literacy, mathematics, and science.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time position with benefits. The Explorer/School Age Teacher will work with our after-school students from 2:30pm to 6:30pm, supporting staff earlier in the day and summer camp students during school breaks. Must be willing to drive a 14-passenger bus.
