Exercise Rehabilitation Specialist

Overview:

The Exercise Rehabilitation Specialist is responsible for guiding, instructing, and inspiring individuals or groups in various physical activities, including aerobic exercise, strength conditioning, and flexibility training.

Key Responsibilities:

· Takes ownership of the knowledge and skills required for the role of an exercise rehabilitation specialist.

· Possesses a solid understanding of the physiological principles of exercise and is capable of designing and instructing tailored exercise programs.

· Clearly communicates program details and assessment procedures to participants, taking into account age-specific considerations.

· Demonstrates proper use of fitness equipment and exercise techniques.

· May offer personal training sessions or lead group exercise classes, monitoring participants for any signs of distress.

· Provides guidance to clients on lifestyle modifications to enhance their overall fitness.

· May oversee volunteers assisting in fitness programs.

· Aids in the organization of member services.

· May be tasked with front desk duties, enrolling new members, conducting facility tours, and supervising the weight training and cardiovascular exercise areas.

· Offers personalized instruction on exercise equipment and fitness regimens.

· Assists in the procurement and management of supplies.

· Maintains necessary documentation for the Director of Rehabilitation Services.

· Engages in workshops, conferences, and educational initiatives to expand knowledge and enhance patient care and staff performance.

· Responsible for maintaining Continuing Education credits for license renewal.

· Must adhere to applicable laws and regulations related to the position.

· Performs additional duties as required.

· Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations, and standards.

· Embodies the hospital's mission and values, demonstrating teamwork, respect, and effective communication with colleagues, patients, families, and visitors.

· Actively participates in identifying and resolving problems within and between departments.

· Strives to meet departmental customer service standards and enhance the quality of service provided.

Qualifications:

· Education:

Required: Certification in an exercise-related field.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in an exercise-related discipline.

· Experience:

Preferred: Minimum of two years in a fitness program environment.

· Licensure/Certifications:

Required: BLS certification.

Certification as an exercise specialist or successful completion within six months.
