Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technician to join our team at Reid Health. As a Surgical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the RN circulator and physicians in the Family Birthing Center Operating Room
  • Prepare and organize sterile supplies and instruments for surgical procedures
  • Develop and maintain a sterile surgical field as a member of the surgical team
  • Perform scrub activities utilizing accepted aseptic principles and following established hospital and surgical services department policies and procedures
  • Follow strict sterile technique when establishing the sterile field and maintaining its sterility throughout the procedure
  • Perform accurate needle, sponge, sharp, small supplies and instruments counts according to accepted policy/procedure
  • Assist the surgeon with application of wound dressings
  • Hold, manipulate and retract tissue with instruments to assist surgeon during procedure, including cutting of suture; anticipating needs of surgeon specific to procedure
  • Assist other team members upon completion of the procedure to transfer the patient onto the surgical cart or bed for transportation to P.A.C.U. or the specialized nursing units
  • Clean and prepare instruments for processing and transport them to the decontamination area
  • Assist with post procedure cleaning of the operative and preparation of room subsequent
  • Responsible for stocking supplies in operative suite, labor rooms, treatment room and postpartum rooms
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology training program or equivalent experience
  • Certified Surgical Tech (CST) preferred
  • Experience Preferred: 2 years of experience as a Surgical Tech in OB preferred
  • Basic Life Support required
