Job Title: Histology Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team at Montefiore Medical Center. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in preparing pathological slides for diagnostic procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tissue Processing: Run tissue processors to produce paraffin blocks and file them accurately.
- Specimen Embedding: Embed pathology specimens and view all layers to ensure quality control.
- Microtome Operation: Cut pathology specimens on a rotary microtome with precision and accuracy.
- Staining and Labeling: Stain routine Hematoxylin Eosin to view tissue sections, stain routine special stains, and label slides correctly.
- Order Entry and Quality Control: Perform order entry, update on LISA, label, and sign out slides while maintaining quality control standards.
- Equipment Maintenance: Cover slipper, perform quality control, equipment maintenance, and prepare solutions as needed.
- Immunohistochemistry Assistance: Assist in Immunohistochemistry procedures and perform other duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: Associate's Degree in Medical Technology or Life Sciences required.
- Licensure: New York State Department of Education Certified Histological Laboratory Technician License required.
- Experience: Experience prioritizing tissue handling, sign out of cases, and troubleshooting technical procedures.
- Knowledge: Knowledge of histopathology and immunohistochemistry techniques.
