Job Description:

The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of high-performance storage systems and subsystems for the OEM and data center marketplace. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with expertise in design and analysis of complex systems.

The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that meet the needs of our customers. This includes designing and analyzing mechanical systems, influencing packaging design, and using the engineering change management system to formally release design content into Agile.

The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer will also be responsible for conducting feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs, directing support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication, and providing design information to packaging engineering for packaging documentation.

This is a senior-level position that requires a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems for high-performance storage systems and subsystems
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions
  • Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs
  • Direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing, and prototype fabrication
  • Provide design information to packaging engineering for packaging documentation

Requirements:

  • BSME or MSME degree with a minimum of 8+ years of product development experience in computing, storage, or related fields
  • Expert working knowledge of CAD systems (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Working knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and/or finite element analysis (FEA) is desired
  • Experience with multiple analysis programs is a plus
  • Experience in structural, vibrational, thermal, and acoustic modeling and problem resolution is a plus
