Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Janitorial Technician to join our Maintenance/Facilities team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring our buildings and grounds remain clean, safe, and welcoming for all who enter. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be able to prioritize tasks in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all areas of the assigned properties, including common areas, vacant apartments, conference rooms, restrooms, and outdoor grounds and parking lot.
  • Perform minor tasks such as replacing light bulbs or unclogging pipes.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and cafeteria/kitchen.
  • Clean all laundry rooms, including laundry room appliances.
  • Dust furniture, walls, and equipment in the building, including community rooms/areas.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly custodial closet; ensure cleaning supplies are stocked.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events.
  • Wash windows.
  • Assist in examining premises for safety hazards; report deficiencies to the maintenance department.
  • Inspect the building at regular intervals and report to the facilities manager any needs or concerns.
  • Assist the Maintenance/Facilities Team as needed and approved or assigned by the Property Manager and/or Director of Housing & Community Development.
  • Inform the facilities manager when necessary equipment is required to replace or purchase to perform necessary duties.
  • Clean and supply designated building areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning, etc.).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must pass a background check.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong professional and personal boundaries.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold and enforce organization policies and procedures as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • An appetite for innovation and creative problem-solving.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lived or some professional experience working with people experiencing homelessness or extreme levels of poverty in the US.
  • Knowledge of safety hazards and proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with racially and ethnically diverse clients and teams.
  • Exhibits willingness to have difficult conversations.
  • Exceptional communication ability, both written and oral.
  • Ability to listen and accept feedback constructively.
  • Possess high emotional intelligence skills.
  • Unwavering personal integrity.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, demanding, constantly changing environment.
