Shifts:
2nd Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM
3rd Shift: 10:00 PM - 6:30 AM
The primary role of the Resident Care Assistant (RCA) is to deliver both physical and emotional support to residents, ensuring their dignity and individuality are upheld. You will report directly to the shift supervisor and the Wellness Director.
Essential Duties- Deliver comprehensive care and services to assigned residents while collaborating with fellow wellness team members.
- Assist residents with daily living activities, including bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and mobility.
- Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with residents and their families.
- Promptly report any suspected instances of abuse to licensed staff.
- Utilize safe transfer techniques to assist residents with mobility challenges.
- Handle residents' laundry as required.
- Adhere to established safety and infection control protocols.
- Document care services accurately on company forms.
- Operate necessary medical equipment and communication devices.
- Facilitate resident transportation and escort services.
- Assist residents with personal correspondence and phone usage as needed.
- Monitor and report changes in residents' health and emotional well-being.
- Conduct regular room checks and rounds.
- Identify and address environmental safety hazards.
- Respond to emergencies calmly and efficiently, reporting incidents to the supervisor.
- Employ tactful communication techniques in sensitive situations.
- Follow up on reported concerns and complaints appropriately.
- Engage in resident-centered activities and support program initiatives.
- Care for personal enhancement devices, such as eyeglasses and hearing aids.
- Assist with light housekeeping tasks, including bed-making and cleaning.
- Act as a representative for residents to visitors and guests.
- Support dining services by escorting residents and assisting with meal service.
- Demonstrate respect for residents' heritage and understanding of aging.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure comprehensive care.
- Participate in assigned projects and committees.
- Attend staff meetings and required training sessions.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Successful completion of the Resident Assistant skills competency checklist.
- Good physical health, capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
- Completion of drug testing and background checks as required.
- Prior experience in Assisted Living is preferred.
