With a focus on excellence and fostering strong agency relationships, our Sales and Marketing department is in search of a property and casualty field territory underwriter. In this field-based role, you will be instrumental in evaluating, assessing, and pricing risks while driving profitable growth for our agency partners within your designated territory.
Starting Pay: The compensation range for this position is $108,000 - $182,400 annually. Our competitive salary package is determined by the applicant's education, experience, location, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Eligible associates may also receive an annual cash bonus and stock incentives based on company and individual performance.
Be prepared to:
- Underwrite: Analyze risks, set pricing, negotiate, and make informed decisions on commercial business.
- Market: Engage in the selling and solicitation of business across all available units within the territory to cultivate a robust, diverse agency relationship.
- Develop the territory: Lead strategic planning, ownership, and execution of enterprise-wide growth and profitability within the territory, including new agency appointments.
- Lead agencies: Foster deep relationships with and understanding of each assigned agency to build a diverse and profitable portfolio, fulfilling our vision to be the best company serving independent agents by consistently being present within agency offices.
- Provide leadership: Collaborate with and guide other field disciplines within designated agency relationships to ensure their success through communication, support, and teamwork.
- Research the market: Stay informed on industry trends, market conditions, emerging risks, primary competitors, and effectively communicate and make informed decisions based on this information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Willingness to travel and visit agencies within the territory regularly.
- Skills in strategic business plan development.
- A passion for leadership.
- A valid driver's license.
- A bachelor's degree.
- Proven experience in underwriting, with a minimum of 2 years in commercial underwriting; more than 3 years preferred.
- Relevant insurance industry certifications (e.g., Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), professional selling) are advantageous.
