Overview

As a Residential Overnight Staff member, you will play a vital role in our Fr. Alfred Center's year-long abstinence-based program. You will work closely with residents, providing a safe and supportive environment through consistent application of program guidelines, policies, and procedures in line with our Franciscan values.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of issues involved in working with recovery clients, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to remain composed under pressure. Salary: $42,000 - $55,000 per annum.

Responsibilities

* Oversee all program activities, including conducting routine facility and bed checks, dispensing medications, and ensuring the safety and privacy of all residents

* Handle or assist in handling any program emergencies, including those involving law enforcement, medical services, or fire department personnel

* Make routine hourly rounds of each floor and adjoining rooms, ensuring that all activity rooms are closed down at the appropriate times

* Monitor incoming and outgoing calls by residents, overseeing all residents on task assignments

* Complete reports and paperwork neatly, legibly, and thoroughly, entering data and information electronically as required

* Participate in regular training and development opportunities to increase personal capacity to apply innovative approaches to daily workflows and service delivery

* Answer program telephones, take accurate messages, and ensure that anyone entering or exiting the facility signs and dates the log

* Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the facility during the course of the shift, documenting and updating information on residents or the program in the appropriate logs or forms by shift end

Requirements

* High School diploma/GED and three years' experience in social services, particularly in drug and alcohol residential programs

* Knowledge and understanding of issues involved in working with recovery clients, with a desire to work for a social services agency serving the poor

* Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to be polite, diplomatic, and firm when interacting with guests, volunteers, donors, and coworkers

* Ability to respond to emergencies and high-pressure situations in a self-composed and self-assured manner, remaining awake and alert throughout working hours

* California driver's license with an excellent driving record desired, along with experience working in a non-profit or community-based social service agency with people experiencing homelessness or poverty
