Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Labor and Delivery Technician to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a Labor and Delivery Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our nursing staff in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including vital signs, skin care, and personal care.
  • Provide basic nursing care to non-critically ill patients and assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment.
  • Reinforce teaching previously taught by RNs and provide education to patients and families.
  • Collect and label specimens accurately and transport blood/blood components and specimens using appropriate blood borne pathogen precautions.
  • Follow standard precautions and infection control policies and procedures consistently.
  • Perform services requiring technical and manual skills under the direction of the RN.
  • Manage and operate equipment safely and correctly, cleans equipment according to standards.
  • Assist with patient admission, orientation, and discharge/transfer, and transport patients as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Certified BLS.
  • Physical Demands: A physical demands test provides an objective way to identify if a candidate can meet the essential tasks for the job the candidate has applied for at Northwestern Medicine.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Labor & Deliver or surgical technician experience.
