Job Summary

M&T Bank is seeking a skilled Relationship Banker to join our team in Westminster, MD. As a Relationship Banker, you will play a key role in building and maintaining strong relationships with our customers, identifying their financial needs, and providing proactive sales solutions to meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Relationship Management: Identify customers' needs through our retail sales process and provide proactive basic sales solutions through customer outreach.
  • Sales Process: Profile and pre-call planning, outreach, appointment preparation, interaction/appointment, and follow-up to meet customers' financial needs.
  • Risk Management: Audit requirements, fraud prevention, Know Your Customer (KYC), and customer information profile (CIP) to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and policies.
  • Product Knowledge: Complete basic research on customer profiles to assess potential ways to add value to their banking relationship and transition to needs-based discussions on financial goals.
  • Customer Servicing: Perform customer servicing interactions, including onboarding new customers, establishing trust with existing clients, and scheduling preset appointments.
  • Compliance and Risk: Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of 2 years proven retail sales, call center, customer service, and/or telesales experience.
  • Skills: Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, proven ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service, well-organized individual with time management and prioritization skills, and demonstrated financial services product knowledge.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Education: Associates degree.
  • License: Notary public license.
  • Language: Bilingual based on branch needs.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability: Stand for long periods of time, prolonged use of hands and fingers, ability to lift light to heavy objects weighing 5 lbs. to 30lbs, ability to read fine print, and ability to interact with customers in an open face-to-face work environment.
