Job Description

At the Toledo Zoo, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Services Associate to join our team. As a Food Services Associate, you will be responsible for preparing food, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining the cleanliness and safety of our food service areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Food Service Department in various outlets, including front-of-house and back-of-house duties.
  • Operate a cash register, take orders, and distribute alcohol responsibly.
  • Prepare and cook food to meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Be available to work in all food service areas, including catering, concessions, and restaurants.
  • Clean and maintain concession areas and equipment to ensure proper sanitation and health and safety guidelines are met.
  • Adhere to all Toledo Zoo policies, procedures, and OSHA and safety/health policies.
  • Provide support to other Visitor Services departments, including Catering, Park Operations, Merchandising, and Warehouse operations.
  • Assist food service managers and supervisors with other tasks as assigned.
  • Operate various types of equipment and machinery, including remote radios, telephones, cash registers, computers, ovens, grills, fryers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, steam equipment, kitchen equipment, and scales.
  • Interact and communicate with staff, customers, and immediate supervisors and other Zoo staff.

Requirements:

  • Prefer experience in food service or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
  • Candidates must be able to take direction, work independently, and multitask.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills are a plus.
  • Work schedules include weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Must have the physical ability to work on your feet and be outdoors for several hours at a time.
