The Physical Therapist will assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative treatments that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver, assess, plan, organize, and participate in rehabilitative treatments that improve mobility, relieve pain, increase strength, and improve or correct disabling conditions resulting from disease or injury.
- Perform and document an initial exam, evaluating data to identify problems and determine a diagnosis prior to intervention.
- Develop and maintain the patient's plan of care in collaboration with Physicians, the patient, and family.
- Evaluate the effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit.
- Complete patient care documentation recording the prognosis, treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart.
- Assist in precepting, orienting, and teaching students (OT students, hospital staff), precepts new employees during orientation.
- Trains and educates patients, family members, and caregivers in therapy principles, methods, and techniques in order to achieve intended outcomes.
- Discharge patient from physical therapy when goals or projected outcomes have been attained and provide for appropriate follow-up care or referrals.
- Direct, supervise, assess, and communicate with supportive personnel.
- Master's Degree required.
- 1-3 years previous experience in acute care environment required.
- PTL- Physical Therapist License- DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies required.
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association required.
- Education and Training - Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching, and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
- Problem solving - the ability to systematically analyze problems, draw relevant conclusions, and devise appropriate courses of action.
- Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
- Knowledge of theory, principles, and practice of physical therapy.
- Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Concern for Others - Job requires being sensitive to others' needs and feelings and being understanding and helpful on the job.
- Knowledge of safety principles in patient care environment.
- Knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures of Denver Health as they pertain to physical therapy.
