About the Position

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Corrections Library Assistant to join our team at the State Correctional Institution. As a key member of our library staff, you will play a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the library and providing exceptional support to inmates and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise all library operations in the absence of the Librarian
  • Ensure a clean and safe environment that promotes reading and learning for inmates
  • Oversee inmate work crews and complete attendance and progress reports
  • Answer questions from inmates and staff regarding library resources and programs
  • Complete daily call-outs for inmates and process library mail
  • Assist the Librarian in training, scheduling, hiring, and terminating inmate library personnel
Requirements
  • Two years of clerical experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Ability to perform essential job functions
  • Pass a background investigation
