About the Job

This is a unique opportunity to join the Department of Veterans Affairs as a Registered Nurse in the Mental Health department. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our patients.

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical competencies. This includes assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care based on age-specific components.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver fundamental, knowledge-based care to assigned clients while developing technical competencies.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care based on age-specific components.
  • Assume responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient education, self-management, and customer satisfaction throughout the continuum of care.
  • Follow procedures per established policies and guidelines.
  • Influence care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
  • Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Preferred Experience

Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in Mental Health/Substance Use.

Work Environment

The population of male and female veterans served ranges from the adult, age 18, to the elderly adult, age 65 and over. James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center (JHQVAMC) is a major interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical, surgical, and neurological inpatients and outpatients.
