Overview:
STS Technical Services is currently seeking a proficient Avionics Technician to enhance our operations in Wheeling, Illinois.

This position demands a comprehensive knowledge of avionics systems, with the capability to diagnose and rectify components at the unit level.

The Avionics Technician will engage with a diverse range of systems, encompassing navigation, communication, radar, audio, and autopilot functionalities.

Key Responsibilities:

Attendance:
Maintain consistent attendance as scheduled, including potential overtime and weekend duties. Reliable transportation is essential.

Avionics Support:

Execute general avionics support on aircraft, which includes the removal and installation of panels and components, along with repair tasks.


System Diagnostics:
Assess and troubleshoot aircraft systems, focusing on avionics, as directed by the Avionics Team Leader.

Inspection & Assessment:
Perform inspections and evaluations of aircraft and components as assigned.

Aircraft Operations:
Assist with aircraft movements and verify system operations.

Facility Upkeep:
Ensure the maintenance of shop facilities, equipment, and tools to guarantee operational readiness.

Independent Projects:
Oversee projects autonomously with minimal supervision.

Additional Tasks:
Complete other job-related responsibilities as directed by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; Electrical tech school and avionics-specific factory training are preferred.

Licenses:
A valid driver's license suitable for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory.
Experience: 3-5 years of aircraft maintenance experience, with a minimum of 2 years working on turbine aircraft. Familiarity with FAA documentation, work orders, and billing processes is crucial.

Initiative:
Self-driven, capable of maintaining a swift work pace, and proficient in managing tasks with minimal oversight. Must be comfortable interacting directly with clients, including conflict resolution.

Regulatory Compliance:
Conduct all tasks in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations.

Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all company and safety protocols during job performance.

Customer Orientation:
Maintain a customer-focused approach and ensure the completion of all work orders, FAA documentation, logbook entries, and billing items.

Physical Demands:
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Routine walking, bending, squatting, and sitting.
Routine or repetitive physical motions with arms and hands.
Basic personal computer operation.

Mental Demands:
Understanding and application of regulations and guidelines.
Ability to troubleshoot and assess system operations.
Ability to collaborate with others in a professional manner.

Supervision:
Work with minimal oversight from the Avionics Team Leader.

Work Environment:
Most tasks will be conducted in a climate-controlled hangar, with occasional outdoor work during aircraft operations. Duties may require varied positions in and around the aircraft.

Equipment Utilized:
Personal hand tools provided by the technician.
Various electrical equipment, jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices.
Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment.
Personal computer and work order documentation.
