About the Unit
Our Level 3 trauma center is a Magnet Designated Corewell Health System facility with 15 operating rooms. We are a center of excellence for bariatrics and total joints, with approximately 40% of our cases comprised of total joints and elective spine cases. The remaining 60% of cases include General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic, and ENT surgeries. Our high-tech environment features 3 Davinci robots, a Mako robot, Mazor, and Stealth technology. The OR is a collaborative team environment, where Nurses, Surgical Technologists, and Surgery Support Staff work together to care for patients and support surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout the surgical procedure. The Blodgett OR team serves as the patient advocate while the patient is under anesthesia. OR staff must use precise, critical thinking, often within a short time frame, while prioritizing cost-effective quality care and patient safety.

Scope of Work
The Surgical Technologist maintains responsibility for preparing the surgical suite, intraoperative handling of instruments, maintenance of the sterile field, and evaluation of changing conditions during the surgical procedures, making appropriate responses as needed. The Surgical Technologist is responsible for maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles related to those procedures. May serve as a Preceptor.

Requirements
- Required Associate's Degree or equivalent.
- Successful Completion of an Accredited School of Surgical Technology.
- Surgical Technologist Experience (Clinical rotations do count as experience) Preferred.
- AHA OR ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) within 90 Days of hire Required.
