Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Chief Psychiatric Officer to join our team at Wellpath. As a key member of our healthcare staff, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychiatric services to incarcerated patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of mental health disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide psychiatric services to inmate patients, including evaluations, treatment, and monitoring of psychotropic medications in compliance with professional and company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure uniformity of mental health services and documentation of psychiatric services.
  • Provide supervision and oversight to psychiatric nurse (if applicable) and consultation/training services to mental health and medical staff.
  • Participate in involuntary medication of high-risk inmates and provide documentation of psychiatric services contacts as requested.
  • Exercise independent medical judgment in diagnosis and treatment of patients while adhering to approved medication formulary and notifying appropriate staff of clinical or administrative concerns.
Requirements
  • Doctorate in psychiatry.
  • Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.
  • Physician who is licensed to practice medicine in the state of employment.
  • Board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
  • CPR Certified.
