ICU Nursing Specialist

At the University of New Mexico Hospitals, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated ICU Nursing Specialist to join our team for night shifts.
About the RoleThis is a per diem opportunity that requires a minimum of two shifts per schedule. You will work within the Medical/Cardiac ICU, providing direct nursing care to assigned patients in accordance with clinical specialty. As an ICU Nursing Specialist, you will serve as a role model, promoting a positive work environment and high-quality patient care.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. You will be responsible for implementing individualized care plans, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
Responsibilities- Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients
- Work within hospitals, nursing division, and departmental policies
- Implement and document individualized care plans incorporating age-specific considerations
- Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
- Participate in orientation and assume precepting and evaluation responsibilities of new personnel
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records
- Answer telephones and triage calls as per departmental policy
- Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights
We require a registered nurse with a nationally accredited nursing graduate degree and at least one year of directly related experience. The ideal candidate should possess current CPR/BLS certification and be licensed to practice in New Mexico or have a reciprocal agreement.
Salary and BenefitsThe estimated salary range for this position is $43-$62 per hour, depending on experience. In addition to competitive pay, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings, and paid time off.
