Responsibilities
  • Provide respiratory therapy services to patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, including acute respiratory failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and pneumonia.
  • Set up, maintain, and monitor mechanical ventilation equipment, including ventilators and oxygen delivery systems.
  • Administer medications, perform blood gas analysis, and interpret arterial blood gas and oximetry results.
  • Perform tracheal, endotracheal, and nasopharyngeal suctioning, as well as instill pharmacologic agents according to policy and procedure.
  • Demonstrate safe and proper sampling, collection, and transport of arterial, capillary, and A-line blood gases.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans based on patient assessment data and physician orders.
Requirements
  • A graduate degree from an approved Respiratory Care program.
  • Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • A current license from the State of Connecticut to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, as well as Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP) or Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
  • One year of skilled respiratory experience within the last two years.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and families, and demonstrate a commitment to customer service.
