Diagnostic Sonographer

**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Sonographer to join our team at Waterbury Hospital. As a Diagnostic Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of Ultrasound exams under the general direction and supervision of the Senior US Technologist, the Assistant Director of Radiology, and the Radiologist.

**Responsibilities**

* Conduct Ultrasound exams using proper equipment and techniques
* Identify and prepare patients for exams
* Obtain optimal Ultrasound images
* Utilize Cerner, HIS, RIS, and PACS systems
* Assist physicians with biopsies, aspirations, transvaginal exams, OR exams, and other special procedures
* Maintain accurate records of all Ultrasound exams
* Clean and maintain Ultrasound equipment and examination rooms
* Complete general, unit, department specifics, and competencies
* Maintain required inventory of supplies
* Coordinate and prioritize in-house and outpatient requests
* Ensure patient safety, well-being, and privacy at all times

**Requirements**

* Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathological processes pertinent to diagnostic Ultrasound
* Knowledge of Ultrasound techniques, tests, and procedures
* Operation knowledge of Ultrasound equipment
* Ability to make technical decisions to obtain accurate information
* Ability to interact and communicate with patients, staff, and hospital personnel
* Knowledge of blood borne pathogen and universal precautions
* Ability to lift and pull patients, push stretchers, and stand and walk
* Graduate of accredited program of Diagnostic Sonography approved by the American College of Radiology
* Certified through the American Society for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) as RDMS (OB or AB), RT(S), RT (VS), RVT, or RVS
* Must maintain all qualifications from the American College of Radiology accreditation requirements for Ultrasound and/or RT(S) continuing education requirements
* Must have basic computer skills and ability to access internet and other programs applicable to Waterbury Hospital procedures
