Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the operating room, assisting the Surgeon and supporting the healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare for and assist the Surgeon during operative procedures, adhering to approved techniques and policies.
  • Exercise critical thinking and independent judgment in patient care, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Support the RN in accurately and timely carrying out physician orders, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Coordinate patient care needs with the preoperative team, prioritizing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Adhere to medication administration policy, verifying transfers and labeling medications to prevent errors.
  • Organize and prioritize the surgical plan of care, providing clear and concise reports when transferring patient care to another provider.
Requirements:
  • Collaborate with the RN to accurately document sharps, needles, and instrument counts, ensuring patient safety and quality care.
  • Manage sharps safely to prevent injury, implementing measures to prevent environmental hazards.
  • Improve medication use safety through proper labeling and hand hygiene, adhering to Universal Protocol policy.
  • Use supplies and equipment safely, ensuring proper functioning and reporting malfunctions to maintain a safe environment.
