Hadoop Cluster Administrator

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Hadoop Administrator to join our team at Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc. The ideal candidate will have expertise in setting up and maintaining Hadoop clusters, as well as experience with Hadoop services such as HDFS, Hive, and HBase.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning and decommissioning of nodes to/from Hadoop cluster
  • Implementing, managing, and administering the overall Hadoop infrastructure
  • Capacity planning and estimating requirements for lowering or increasing Hadoop cluster capacity
  • Monitoring Hadoop cluster connectivity and performance for application teams
  • Replicating large amounts of data from one Hadoop cluster to another
  • Applying encryption to secure data in Hadoop cluster
  • Collaborating with application teams and business users to apply configuration changes and test the cluster

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in setting up Hadoop clusters from scratch and server maintenance
  • Sound knowledge of Hadoop services - HDFS, Hive, HBase, Impala, Hue, Ranger, etc.
  • Experience with Cloudera CDP Hadoop upgrade
  • Experience with access management and setting up user roles in Hadoop
  • Able to create and debug complex Unix shell scripts
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Good team player

Preferred Skills:

  • Analyzing and troubleshooting issues with clusters
  • Setting up and maintaining infrastructure to maintain performance and data integrity
  • Experience with ELK Stack: Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Apache Hadoop
  • Ensuring appropriate monitoring and alerting of Elasticsearch cluster
  • Expertise in networking and security settings to support network-related pipelines
  • Good to have Ruby and/or Python, Unix, and GIT knowledge
