Position Overview:

The ideal candidate for the Shop Foreman role will possess outstanding manufacturing expertise, along with hands-on experience operating various CNC machinery and controls. Key responsibilities include interpreting customer job travelers and work orders, reading mechanical blueprints, preparing and implementing computer control programs for machining centers, selecting and inspecting appropriate tooling, and ensuring safe operation of computer-controlled machining equipment within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate work schedules and tasks for all shifts in the department, collaborating with shop personnel and department leaders.
  • Enhance operational efficiencies while upholding quality standards through effective employee engagement.
  • Drive production goals and encourage team members to exceed performance expectations.
  • Develop and implement training programs, while enforcing production policies and procedures.
  • Utilize gaging and inspection tools to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Manage compliance with company certification and ISO registration requirements.
  • Oversee the presetting process to maximize equipment utilization.
  • Monitor workloads and timelines to ensure prompt deliveries without compromising quality.
  • Engage with the company ERP system on a daily basis.
  • Identify training, machinery, tooling, and process requirements for the department.
  • Track departmental expenses and budgets effectively.
  • Plan production sequences and review time standards for part routings.
  • Support and implement lean process improvement initiatives as directed by management.
  • Maintain accurate production records to meet customer requirements.
  • Achieve departmental and personal productivity and quality goals, while pursuing continuous improvement.
  • Report any machinery or process issues to management or maintenance personnel.
  • Manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols established by the company, including proper equipment usage and procedures.

Required Attributes:

  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity.

Education, Skills, and Experience:

  • Five to ten years of experience in the manufacturing sector, with knowledge of speeds and feeds, and at least two years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft applications.
  • Strong mathematical skills and aptitude.

Physical Demands:

This position requires the ability to lift or move up to 50 lbs, reach in various directions, and stand or walk continuously throughout the workday. The role also involves using hands to manipulate materials and accessing information via computer.

Work Environment:

The majority of work will take place in a machine shop environment, which may have fluctuating temperatures and exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. The company provides standard safety equipment, and safety notices are posted in required areas.
