Position Overview

The Intermediate Business Analyst is pivotal within our organization, engaging in various tasks related to business analysis functions. This role is primarily accountable, with occasional oversight, for gathering, assessing, validating, specifying, verifying, and managing the genuine needs of project stakeholders, which include customers and end users from diverse departments. The Intermediate Business Analyst acts as the liaison between the business side and the Information Systems development team, ensuring that requirements are effectively communicated for medium to complex projects. Familiarity with both Agile and Waterfall/Hybrid Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project sponsors or senior Business Analysts to document project goals.
  • Evaluate project scope to identify relevant stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the gathering, specification, and validation of functional project requirements through interviews, document reviews, and other methods.
  • Create project requirement specifications and business rules using standard templates, ensuring clarity and conciseness.
  • Present requirements to the technical team and stakeholders for refinement and feedback incorporation.
  • Utilize commercial requirements management tools (e.g., Project Management Database, Jira, Wiki) to manage business rules, maintain version control, and oversee project artifacts.
  • Develop and implement effective testing strategies to evaluate final programming changes; collaborate with other Business Analysts to assess cross-impacts of changes.
  • Document system modifications through concise narratives or diagrams, including all business rules, use cases, and test scripts.
  • Break down high-level business and user requirements into detailed functional requirements.
  • Represent requirements through alternative views such as flowcharts or diagrams; engage in business justification and prioritize proposed requirements.
  • Coordinate readiness and go-live activities to ensure seamless transitions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in mortgage banking, along with two years of experience in programming/system analysis, business process, or project management.
  • Relevant experience in mortgage lending and/or consumer lending technology; experience in mortgage operations is highly desirable.
  • Experience in leading or collaborating with teams in an Agile environment, managing backlogs, and developing epics and user stories is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in business process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proven ability to scrutinize complex workflows and enhance them for improved efficiency.
  • Proficient modeling skills to visually represent requirements information effectively.
  • Comprehensive understanding of contemporary practices in requirements elicitation, analysis, specification, verification, and management.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; capable of managing communication with multiple stakeholders effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct interviews, facilitate discussions, gather information, and report findings.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Wiki, Google Docs, and other collaborative software applications.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.
  • Skilled in organizing and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail.
  • Uphold ethical standards and commitment to company values.
  • General to intermittent supervision required, based on experience.
  • Moderate independent judgment and discretion in decision-making; exercise sound judgment in core responsibilities.
