Medical Care Specialist

The Western Massachusetts Hospital, a specialty care hospital operated by the Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse II. About the Role
As a Licensed Practical Nurse II, you will direct and participate in the nursing care of adult and geriatric patients on an inpatient unit following standards of care. You will transcribe, administer, and/or supervise the administration of medication in accordance with standard practices and protocols. Additionally, you will maintain accurate records related to activities, meetings, groups, treatment plan schedules, and all nursing assignments.
Responsibilities
• Perform direct hands-on nursing care using established hospital policies and procedures along with nursing standards of care to ensure a consistent approach to patient care.
• Document changes in the patient's condition and care rendered according to established nursing service guidelines.
• Participate in employee performance reviews by keeping supervisors informed of staff performance through consultation and documentation.
• Instruct unit personnel in nursing techniques, procedures, and equipment.
Qualifications
• Possession of a current and valid license as a practical nurse under the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing.
• At least one year of paraprofessional experience in the field of nursing as a licensed practical nurse.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of nursing.
• Understanding of the problems in providing nursing services to special client groups such as mentally, physically, and or emotionally handicapped.
• Knowledge of the types and application of emergency medical procedures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Salary and Benefits
The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plans, and paid time off.
