Position Overview
The Cannabis Retail Specialist will provide a welcoming atmosphere and assist customers in understanding, selecting, and purchasing a diverse range of cannabis products, including flowers, concentrates, edibles, and topicals.
This role requires not only extensive knowledge of the products' benefits, effects, aromas, and flavors but also a friendly, engaging, and empathetic demeanor.
The Retail Specialist will support the management team in the daily operations of the store while adhering to established policies, procedures, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert knowledge and personalized service to each customer by elucidating the potential advantages of the cannabis products available.
- Ensure that customer inquiries or issues are addressed promptly and thoroughly.
- Relay any customer requests or unresolved issues to management without delay.
- Responsible for accurately processing, coordinating, and fulfilling customer orders using the Point of Sale (POS) and inventory management systems in accordance with company, local, and state regulations.
- Adapt to fluctuating sales volumes and maintain an active presence by engaging in continuous learning, creating an inviting atmosphere, and assisting in keeping the dispensary well-stocked, organized, and operational while prioritizing customer satisfaction.
- Achieve or surpass daily sales goals by following the customer engagement selling cycle with tailored product recommendations, including meeting individual and team sales objectives within the dispensary.
- Assist management in ensuring compliance with all regulatory and operational standards.
- Contribute to a positive workplace culture by treating all individuals with respect and dignity while fostering a curiosity about cannabis.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Manager or Store Lead.
Qualifications
- Must remain informed and comply with all policies and regulations set forth by the state cannabis authority.
- Must meet the age requirement as stipulated by the state cannabis authority (21 years).
- Must successfully pass all background checks mandated by the state cannabis authority.
- Flexibility to accommodate scheduling that may include varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
- Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
Experience
- A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a cannabis retail environment is preferred.
- Previous customer service experience in hospitality, pharmacy, or retail settings is advantageous.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent time management capabilities.
- Effective communication skills with customers, caregivers, and team members.
Working Conditions
- Work primarily takes place in a dispensary environment.
- Frequent interaction with staff, vendors, and customers, including occasional engagement with law enforcement and state inspectors.
Physical Requirements
- The individual in this role will frequently communicate with customers and caregivers regarding medical conditions and product offerings, requiring accurate information exchange.
- Regularly operates computer/POS systems and standard office equipment such as printers and phones.
- Must be able to remain stationary while checking in customers or operating the register.
- Regularly moves and transports dispensary products weighing up to 30 lbs.
- Ability to twist, turn, bend, stand, and walk as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of a dispensary agent.
