Nursing Assistant Job Summary

Covenant Health Inc. is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team at Claiborne Medical Center. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our residents, ensuring their comfort, dignity, and well-being.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ambulate and assist residents in and out of bed, into wheelchairs, and transport when necessary.
  • Attend to nutritional needs of residents, including distributing meal trays, feeding, and passing out water pitchers.
  • Provide morning or evening care, which may include bed baths, oral hygiene, combing hair, back care, dressing patients, changing bed linen, cleaning over-bed tables and bedside stands, straightening rooms, and other supportive care as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment, including reporting equipment that is out of order, handling linen, and storing supplies.
  • Provide general care, such as positioning, lifting, or turning residents; preoperative supportive care; and application/removal of abdominal binders or anti-embolism stockings and sequential compression devices.
  • Perform tasks such as ROM, assist with ambulatory devices as specified by the residents' plan of care.
  • Perform phlebotomy (requires additional training) and EKG (requires special training).
  • Report significant changes in residents' conditions to RNs.
  • Help maintain clean and orderly residents' and work environments.
  • Employ established infection control policies, including standard precautions, transmission-based isolation precautions, OSHA standards, safety measures, and proper body mechanics in performance of job.
  • Document/maintain residents' records as appropriate.
  • Gather equipment for O2 setup, check for proper functioning of equipment at patient bedside, and ambulate residents with oxygen.
  • Set up suction equipment and check for proper function.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe environment for all residents, including reporting equipment that is out of order, suspicion of resident abuse, mistreatment, neglect, and reporting of suspicion of criminal activities.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and safety standards, work toward achieving goals and objectives, and participate in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
