About the Role

We are seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing a variety of examinations using standard department protocols, isolation precautions, and/or sterile technique.

Key Responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients to obtain clinical history and informed consent to assist the physician in optimizing the performance and interpretation of the examination.
  • Explain procedures to patients and families, answering any questions to ease anxiety and ensure patient cooperation.
  • Assist the physician in performing examinations, utilizing knowledge of IVs, heparin locks, and central line usage as they pertain to Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI).
  • Demonstrate patient safety in the department by using side rails, braking mechanisms, and patient monitoring.
  • Report, document, and correct any adverse, unsafe, or unusual conditions.
  • Perform and recognize the need for routine maintenance of imagers and processors to maintain consistent quality images.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiography or MRI certification from ARMRIT or CAMRT, or graduate of an accredited school of nuclear medicine with MRI training (must be MRI Registry eligible through ARRT).
  • American Registered Radiologic Technologists, or ARMRIT or CAMRT certification.
  • Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association, required.
  • Prior experience as a Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist and/or MRI Technologist in a hospital/healthcare environment or recent student at Inova Health System, preferred.
