Job Summary

The Regulatory Relations and Enterprise Risk Management Specialist will serve as a key point of contact between Northwest Bank's regulators and business units, providing strategic and tactical management of regulatory relationships. This role will facilitate clear and consistent internal and external communication, conduct exam management activities, and respond timely to regulatory requests and deliverables.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain a formal examination management process to improve standards, coordination, and discipline for interactions with regulators across the bank.
  • Act as the lead and primary point of contact for the regulatory exam team, assisting business lines during all regulatory examinations by coordinating and overseeing various aspects of the examination.
  • Be responsible for understanding the implications of regulatory messages and providing interpretation and guidance to internal executive business stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain formal communication plans with key regulatory agencies to facilitate scheduling of important meetings and promoting information-sharing at all levels of the organization.
  • Maintain full and easily accessible records of all regulatory interactions.
  • Provide advice and conduct training to management regarding how Northwest Bank colleagues should interact with regulators.
  • Coordinate and enhance communications with executive management teams to reduce the possibility of regulatory misunderstanding or inconsistent messaging.
  • Periodically communicate updates on exam matters, including schedules, results, issues, etc.
  • Help to enhance the enterprise-wide risk management training program by developing meaningful and role-based trainings and streamlining where possible.
  • Assist in maintaining and improving ERM's policy and procedure framework.
  • Analyze risk data across the pillars and assist in communicating key items and/or areas of opportunity to management and risk committees.
  • Help to further develop the risk metric program, ensuring appropriate risk metrics are implemented and representative of the risk pillars.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to confirm ERM programs and framework are being consistently utilized and followed across each risk discipline.
Requirements
  • 8 years of direct interaction with banking regulatory agencies, including communication and administration of corporate communication with regulatory agencies.
  • 8 years of experience as a regulator or risk and control manager with a sound understanding of the regulatory agency supervisory processes.
  • 8 years of broad knowledge of a financial services organization's operations and understanding of regulatory points of interest.

  • Ability to make right decisions based on perceptive and analytical processes, practicing good judgment in gray areas.
