Underground Cable Installation Technician

Position Overview:
The Drop Crew at Wire3 is tasked with the installation of underground coaxial and fiber optic cable lines for both residential and commercial clients. Our technicians utilize a range of specialized equipment to efficiently bury cable drops, including vibrator plows, boring machines, and various hand tools. No prior experience is necessary, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Compensation: $18.00 per hour
Work Schedule: Full Time
Available Hours: Monday to Sunday, 8 AM to 5 PM (extended hours until 7 PM on weekdays and 8 PM on weekends as required).
Incentives: Bonus pay opportunities are available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and avoid damage to existing utilities.
- Locate unmarked utilities and customer equipment, such as dog fences and irrigation systems.
- Restore job sites to their original condition post-installation.
- Interpret work drawings and instructions while completing necessary documentation.
- Discuss all requested and existing services with customers prior to new installations.
- Operate machinery, including trenching and boring equipment, for cable burial.
- Utilize hand-held devices for task management and completion.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and responsibly.
- Accountable for any damages incurred during the work process.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Experience operating trenching and boring machinery for cable installation.
- Ability to walk distances of 1/2 mile or more while managing a drop plow.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as necessary.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
- A valid driver's license is essential.
- Successful completion of background and motor vehicle record checks is required.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
