Minimum Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required. The Custodial Services Specialist must possess effective communication skills, be able to follow both oral and written instructions, and work independently or collaboratively within a team. Applicants should have substantial knowledge of fundamental cleaning practices, cleaning agents, and janitorial tools. Basic proficiency in computer usage and related software is also necessary. A valid North Carolina Driver's License and a driving record that meets the insurability criteria under Wayne Community College's auto insurance policy are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual abilities and possession of a National Career Readiness Certificate are preferred.

Position Description

The responsibilities include sweeping and mopping floors, performing daily vacuuming, and ensuring restrooms are clean, sanitized, and stocked with essential supplies. The Custodial Services Specialist will be tasked with emptying and cleaning waste containers, washing windows and glass doors on a daily basis, dusting furniture, blinds, and equipment regularly, and maintaining cleanliness in outdoor stairwells, colonnades, entrances to designated buildings, and surrounding flowerbeds. Additional duties involve assisting in the arrangement of tables and chairs, helping prepare for special events, and executing other related tasks as assigned. The Custodial Services Specialist must be capable of walking long distances while carrying equipment weighing over 20 lbs. and safely lifting heavy items such as full trash bags. This position will report directly to the Custodial Supervisor.
