Position Overview:
As a key member of our educational team, the Child Development Teacher will work collaboratively with a co-teacher to deliver a nurturing and developmentally appropriate educational experience for children aged 2 to 5 years. This role is integral to fostering a stimulating learning environment that aligns with our center's philosophy and mission.
Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with a co-teacher to design and execute a curriculum tailored to the developmental needs of 12-15 children.
2. Conduct regular observations and document the developmental progress of each child, completing assessments biannually.
3. Create a classroom atmosphere that encourages growth and engagement for children at various developmental stages.
4. Actively supervise and engage with children during activities.
5. Maintain open communication with parents regarding their child's development and classroom activities.
6. Participate in reflective discussions about teaching practices with co-teachers and staff, contributing to team meetings.
7. Mentor practicum and intern students, assisting with their evaluations as needed.
8. Engage in school events and contribute to organizational initiatives.
9. Manage classroom supplies and maintain inventory as necessary.
10. Commit to ongoing professional development, completing a minimum of 21 hours annually.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED with at least 12 units in Early Childhood Education or current enrollment in a related program.
- At least one year of experience in a full-day child development setting with children aged 2 to 5.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
- Three years of experience in a similar educational environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry children up to 40 pounds and engage in physical activities with them.
- Must have normal vision and hearing capabilities to ensure child safety.
