Theology Professor

The Trinity Church Wall Street invites applications for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Systematic Theology for its hybrid MDiv program. As an open rank role (Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor), this appointment will begin on June 1, 2025. To be successful, candidates must hold a PhD (ABD will be considered). We are particularly interested in appointing faculty who can teach across various subject areas; who teach their discipline in the light of the needs of church leaders in the twenty-first century; and who are committed to forming pastoral leaders.
Our ideal candidate will contribute to some of the following areas: antiracism and diversity, equity, and inclusion; community organizing; interreligious fluency; ministerial leadership; mission & evangelism; and women's studies. In addition, all faculty are expected to contribute to the teaching of other theological disciplines according to their skills and experience.
We intentionally accept annually a small student body to provide concentrated attention to individuals, cohorts, and the collective student community. Our hybrid MDiv program requires faculty to teach classes in both asynchronous online and short-term in-person modalities. Faculty are required to be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship and are free to live anywhere they wish in the U.S. as long as they can meet the demands of the job. Faculty will also be expected to advise students, engage in service, and pursue a scholarly agenda. A deep commitment to working in an engaged and collegial manner with other faculty and staff colleagues is of foremost importance. Occasional travel will be required for this role.
We seek a candidate who demonstrates a commitment to the holistic formation of students. As our mission is to prepare priests for the Episcopal Church, candidates will demonstrate a commitment to the church and the health of its leaders, to community, to theological reflection, and to the formation of the whole student. Preference will be given to candidates who are ordained in a church in the Anglican Communion or a full communion partner. Prospective faculty who consider seminary preparation as part of their ordained or lay vocation outside of the Episcopal Church, and/or who come from minoritized populations and communities, are encouraged to apply.
Salary and BenefitsThe estimated salary range for this position is $100,000-$130,000, commensurate with rank and experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement planning, and paid time off. Additionally, we provide opportunities for professional development and growth within the organization.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a vibrant community of scholars and practitioners who are dedicated to shaping the next generation of church leaders. If you are passionate about theology and education, and are looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity, we encourage you to apply.
