Job Overview

Position: Behavior Support Specialist

Salary: $17-22 per hour

As a Behavior Support Specialist at Arizona Autism Charter Schools, Inc., you will play a vital role in fostering a positive learning environment for students in the Early Learning Center, specifically for grades Kinder through 3rd. Working under the guidance of ABA Managers, you will assist classroom teachers by addressing the behavioral and educational needs of students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the execution of educational programs, focusing on self-help skills and behavior management.
  • Collaborate with the classroom team to enhance academic instruction and implement behavior intervention plans.
  • Deliver lessons as directed by the teacher, which may involve supporting independent tasks, special projects, or teaching small groups.
  • Assist in preparing classroom materials and planning activities alongside the classroom teacher.
  • Facilitate student participation in classroom routines and assist with self-care tasks as needed.
  • Implement behavior intervention strategies in accordance with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles as instructed by the ABA Manager.
  • Adhere to tier one behavioral supports and follow established behavior plans.
  • Maintain QBS certification and uphold the policies outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Exhibit professional conduct and appearance at all times.
  • Support special education students, which may include physical assistance such as lifting and feeding.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • Preferred experience in special education and/or behavioral support: 1 year.
  • Passion for best practices in autism education and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating tact and good judgment in interactions with students and staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Capability to work independently while managing multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and sound judgment.
  • Experience in structured teaching environments is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within the first month of employment.
