Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at the Virginia Department of Human Resource Management. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide nursing care to adult inmates in a correctional setting, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 24-hour nursing care to adult inmates, including medication administration, patient education, and basic life support.
• Document all pertinent information into the health record, maintaining confidentiality and interfacing with other departments as needed.
• Delegate tasks and workload, working hours, days, and locations as assigned, and providing coverage as needed to meet institutional needs.
• Provide evidence-based nursing care and promote continued competence through education and certification, with a focus on correctional nursing.

Requirements:

• Valid unrestricted Virginia RN license.
• Certified Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers with current certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC).
• Experience in a correctional setting is preferred.
