We are seeking a highly skilled MRI Technologist to join our team at WVU Medicine. As an MRI Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a wide range of diagnostic procedures utilizing a magnetic resonance scanner.
- Conduct imaging/therapeutic services and associated patient care to support the Radiology Department's mission.
- Ensure MRI Safety precautions to patients, families, co-workers, and any other individuals that may come in contact with the MRI scan room area.
- Assess patient's needs and provide imaging related to comfort, hygiene, and range of motion.
- Prepare contrast agents according to procedural guidelines and protocols.
- Educate patients regarding MRI procedures and contrast media.
- Promote the team approach to providing Radiology services by positively interacting with the technical, support, nursing, residents, and medical staff.
- Engage in problem-solving, crisis management, and systems implementation to promote and support efficient, high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
- Instruct MRI/Radiography students as needed in support of the radiology education program.
- Display imaging techniques, patient care, and guest relation behaviors in accordance with the ARRT Code of Ethics, WVUH Administrative Policies and Procedures, Radiology Department Policies and Procedures, State and Federal Regulations, and The Joint Commission guidelines.
- Report equipment failures to management immediately upon identification and notify proper individuals that service is needed.
- Complete all in-services and competencies by the required date and apply knowledge gained.
- Complete all necessary QA in accordance with the American College of Radiology.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- MRI Certification through ARRT or ARMRIT within 1 year of hire.
- West Virginia State Licensure as an MRI Tech, or applicable state licensure where services will be performed (excluding Pennsylvania).
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire.

- Work in a strong Magnetic field.
- Ability to interact with patients, families, and members of the Health Care team.
- Ability to prioritize and deal with a variety of situations at any given time.
- Knowledge and Proficiency of Radiology information systems.
This is a non-exempt position with a scheduled weekly hours of 36 and a day shift. The position is located at WVUH West Virginia University Hospitals, 1536 WVUH FMT Nursing MRI, 1325 Locust Avenue, Fairmont, West Virginia.
