This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to join the Internal Revenue Service as a Lead Internal Revenue Agent. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting tax examinations of large and complex business entities, utilizing advanced investigative and auditing techniques to determine tax liabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct pre-audit analysis of assigned cases, researching background materials and formulating a plan for the audit.
  • Perform employment tax examinations of complex business entities, utilizing knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and precedents.
  • Develop and apply knowledge of business and trade practices to identify tax issues and develop examination plans.
  • Interact effectively with taxpayers, representatives, and other stakeholders to negotiate and resolve tax issues.
Requirements
  • One year of specialized experience in tax examination, auditing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and precedents, including employment tax laws.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and develop examination plans.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
