The Rehabilitation Therapy Support Specialist, under the guidance of a licensed therapist, is primarily responsible for assisting with patient care and supporting therapy staff. This role requires the integration of company values into daily responsibilities.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm

Compensation: Competitive hourly rate based on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver basic patient care, including assistance with toileting, bathing, linen changes, hydration, mobility support, comfort measures, and other patient needs. Ensure safe patient handling and transfer techniques are utilized.
  • Document vital signs, monitor and record intake and output, and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the appropriate healthcare personnel.
  • Collaborate with therapists and interdisciplinary team members to ensure effective patient care delivery.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests from patients and their families.
  • Assist in preparing and maintaining therapy environments.
  • Contribute to creating a physical, social, and psychological atmosphere that promotes patient comfort and healing.
  • Support the admission, discharge, and transfer processes for patients.
  • Be prepared to work during adverse weather conditions and staffing emergencies.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff by assessing risks and implementing necessary precautions. Adhere to safety and infection prevention standards.
  • Exhibit regular attendance in accordance with the assigned work schedule.
  • Perform additional duties as required to enhance the overall effectiveness of the organization.
Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years in an inpatient hospital setting is preferred.

Required Certifications:
• Current BLS certification is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Understanding of current clinical operations and procedures.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention practices and proper body mechanics.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including data entry and records management.
  • Ability to apply clinical policies, procedures, and guidelines effectively.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain quality and safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with others.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
Physical Demands:
  • Significant standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling may be required for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and exert up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible exposure to bodily fluids.
  • Visual acuity necessary for patient assessment and documentation.
  • Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
  • Manual dexterity to operate equipment and use a computer keyboard.
  • Ability to adjust focus for close vision tasks.
