Nature Adventures Camp Instructor

Join the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History team as a Nature Adventures Camp Instructor, where you will inspire a thirst for discovery and a passion for the natural world in children aged 4-12.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Nature Adventures Manager and other lead and assistant instructors to deliver science programs for children.
  • Interface with parents during check-in and checkout periods.
  • Prepare and teach camp activities, including natural history and science-based subjects.
  • Supervise and manage group activities, ensuring a positive guest experience.
  • Support the Museum's commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Requirements:

  • Experience in leading classroom-based informal educational programs or related work.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivated.
  • First Aid certification (preferred).

Work Environment:

  • Outdoor environment, including creek and trail exploration.
  • Museum-based educational classroom environment.
  • Frequent walking, lifting, and standing.
