POSITION SUMMARY
The Asphalt Plant Mechanic is a skilled position responsible for various tasks related to construction projects. This role requires versatility, allowing for the transition between multiple duties as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform all tasks in alignment with Solterra's Core Values.
- Possess a thorough understanding of asphalt plant operations and electrical systems.
- Read and interpret repair manuals effectively.
- Diagnose malfunctions and execute repairs.
- Operate and assess plant equipment to identify defects.
- Dismantle and reassemble machinery using appropriate tools.
- Weld and repair damaged components.
- Act as a safety advocate by adhering to safety regulations and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and proactively address potential hazards.
- Inspect parts for wear and damage.
- Test repaired equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Guide team members in maintenance tasks.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, which may vary based on operational needs.
SUPERVISORY ROLE
- This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
Safety Considerations
- This role is classified as safety-sensitive and is subject to drug and alcohol policies.
- Compliance with personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements is mandatory.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and proactively mitigate risks.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Regular physical activity is required, including standing for extended periods.
- Work may involve heights, necessitating climbing and maneuvering in tight spaces.
- Frequent lifting of heavy objects, up to 50 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to operate machinery and tools safely.
- Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE
- This is a full-time position, with potential evening and weekend hours as needed.
- Willingness to travel to job sites is essential.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Three to five years of relevant experience in asphalt plant operations is required.
- Effective communication skills are necessary for collaboration with supervisors and team members.
- Fluency in English is required.
CERTIFICATIONS
- A valid driver's license with a clean record is required; a CDL may be preferred.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is mandatory.
