Job Summary

Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center - Janesville is seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Routine Therapies: Perform routine therapies that aid in the treatment, diagnosis, and evaluation of cardiopulmonary status.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergent care situations in the hospital and assist with resuscitation as directed by the Code Team Leader.
  • Patient Assessment: Assess patients clinically before and after the administration or application of any medication, procedure, or device; recommend appropriate therapy.
  • Medication Administration: Initiate and provide on-going evaluation of treatment regime including medication delivery and oxygen administration through therapist driven protocols.
  • Equipment Management: Demonstrate competence in the set-up, calibration, and troubleshooting of mechanical ventilators, noninvasive ventilation devices, therapeutic bronchoscopies, and pulmonary function screens.
  • Transportation: Transport adult patients on mechanical ventilators, non-invasive ventilation devices, and critically ill to intrahospital procedures and testing.
  • Community Education: Participate in community education events relating to procedures performed, disease processes, medications, and treatments relating to respiratory care.
  • Professional Development: Seek to improve performance by participating in self-development activities, in-services, and continuing education.
Requirements
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Licensure: WI Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  • Certification: RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) with The National Board for Respiratory Care or CRT-Certified Respiratory Therapist.
  • Training: Approved CPR or BLS, ACLS within 6 months of hire, and NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) within 90 days of orientation for delivery attendance.
