The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role within the healthcare team, utilizing sound nursing judgment to provide exceptional patient care.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe LPN is responsible for delivering both direct and indirect patient care for a designated group of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This includes:
- Implementing care plans based on physician orders and RN assessments.
- Providing physical care, emotional support, and educational resources to patients and their families.
- Conducting focused assessments to gather essential health data during patient admissions.
- Collaborating with RNs to develop and evaluate individualized care plans.
- Monitoring and documenting patient conditions, reporting significant changes to the RN.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A diploma from an accredited School of Practical Nursing.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication abilities to convey complex information clearly.
Experience as an LPN is advantageous, as is a commitment to pursuing further education in nursing.
Licensure and CertificationsApplicants must hold a current license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in Pennsylvania and maintain certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and other relevant areas.
Additional InformationThis position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but requires a collaborative approach to patient care. The LPN will also participate in performance improvement initiatives and adhere to safety and regulatory standards.
