Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utility Billing Supervisor to join our team at the City of Rowlett, TX. As a key member of our Finance department, you will be responsible for supervising, leading, and directing the Utility Billing staff. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, where you will have the chance to make a real impact on our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and lead the Utility Billing staff, providing guidance and support to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.
  • Coordinate shared functions between multiple departments, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Coordinate work activities related to servicing customer accounts, providing routine guidance to new hire Customer Service Representatives.
  • Exercise excellent customer service relations, responding to customer inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Process billing reports and other miscellaneous reports as needed, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Perform as a responsible steward of the public trust, striving for excellence in public service and enhancing the quality of life for our community.
  • Ensure compliance with billing regulations, verifying the accuracy of billed receivables through verification of billing registers and other automated reports.
  • Research and analyze customer inquiries concerning billing accounts and problems, running various reports as required and identifying inaccurately billed accounts.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and enter data relating to new meters included into inventory and meters changed out for accuracy, ensuring proper accountability and timely and accurate billings.
  • Responsible for all AP entry in the Revenue Office, including Meter Services and Utility Billing, processing all P-card reconciliations and entering requisitions for PO's.
  • Handle citizen complaints involving utility bills, working out payment plans with citizens in need of assistance and serving as a backup for the Revenue Manager.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED and three years of experience in utility billing, preferably in a municipal setting, including one year of supervisory experience.
  • Must have experience in AP processing as well as exceptional customer service skills.
  • A valid Class "C" Driver's License is required and ability to maintain city driving standards.
