Job Overview:

The following outlines the essential functions and responsibilities associated with the role of Food and Nutrition Cook. This position is vital in ensuring that residents receive nutritious and appealing meals tailored to their dietary needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare appetizing and nutritious meals that cater to the daily dietary requirements and special needs of residents.
  2. Manage the handling, storage, and disposal of raw and cooked food items in accordance with company protocols and relevant regulations.
  3. Adhere to production schedules and standardized recipes aligned with menu cycles developed by Registered Dietitians.
  4. Offer food alternatives to accommodate individual resident preferences.
  5. Maintain cleanliness and safety of food service equipment and work areas, following facility policies and applicable regulations.
  6. Oversee kitchen operations, including opening and closing procedures.
  7. Perform additional tasks as assigned to support the overall functioning of the kitchen.

Qualifications:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. A minimum of one year of experience in a cooking role within an institutional food service environment is also preferred.

Supervisory Role:

This position may involve leading Food and Nutrition Aides in the absence of a Manager.

Physical Requirements:

The role requires working in an institutional kitchen setting, where the employee may need to sit, bend, stoop, see, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee may lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds. Exposure to blood, body fluids, fumes, airborne particles, and hazardous chemicals may occur. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
