Housekeeping Supervisor Job Description

At Sheraton San Jose, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housekeeping Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our housekeeping department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  • Inspect and oversee the work performance of housekeeping staff to ensure compliance with hotel standards and productivity levels.
  • In the absence of the Housekeeping Manager, inspect VIP rooms and report their availability to the Front Office.
  • Oversee the closing of floors at the end of the day, ensuring housekeeping carts are clean and restocked.
  • Ensure accurate records of daily assignments are completed and submitted on time.
  • Maintain key control and handle lost and found items according to hotel standards.
  • Monitor the cleanliness and orderliness of housekeeping carts, linen closets, control closets, stairways, and landings.
  • Assign duties to housekeeping staff and ensure they carry a work assignment.
  • Communicate effectively with the Front Office and Engineering teams throughout the shift.
  • Report on the progress of out-of-order rooms under housekeeping supervision to the Guest Services Manager.
  • Initiate work orders for repairs and maintenance and follow through until completion.
  • Assist with training and development of housekeeping staff.
  • May be required to clean rooms as business needs dictate.
  • Ensure completion of cleaning projects on a biannual basis.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in a related field is helpful.
  • At least two to three years of progressive experience in a hotel or related field is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of employees and guests.

Rate: $22/hour
