Shipfitter - Laborer

We are seeking a skilled Shipfitter to join our team at LaborOne Staffing. As a Shipfitter, you will be responsible for laying out and fabricating metal structural parts, such as plates, bulkheads, and frames, for marine vessels.

• Lay out and fabricate metal structural parts, including plates, bulkheads, and frames, according to specifications.
• Brace parts in position within the hull of ships for riveting or welding.
• Prepare molds and templates for the fabrication of nonstandard parts.
• Install packing, gaskets, liners, and structural accessories and members, such as doors, hatches, brackets, and clips.
• Tack weld clips and brackets in place before permanent welding.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent, plus three to five years of ship fitting experience desired.
• Knowledge of materials, methods, and the appropriate tools to construct marine vessels required.
• Ability to read and comprehend written, oral, or diagram forms.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate.
• The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the workday.
